![]() ![]() In regard to the Kenwood C-2, its design seems to be heavily influenced by the Yamaha C-4, and that is a good thing if it's so. And very versatile! A minimalist preamp may sound great (or not), but if it isn't easy to use and able to accommodate the various signal sources and outputs you need, it will eventually just bother you to use it. Did I mention versatile? Great build quality, very thoughtfully laid out, easy to operate in the dark. A properly working C-4 is a fine sounding and incredibly versatile preamplifier, with a great phono section, a great accurate smooth volume control, a fine headphone output, lots of switching versatility, two outputs, and much flexibility. ![]() Did I mention they seem to be available for a relatively cheap price?" I had mine gone through and all of the clip connections between boards replaced with soldered wire and it improved an already fine piece. It also has a headphone output, something most pre-amps don't. It has lots of flexibility, extremely well built (with a serious power supply), fine phono stage (with lots of adaptability for various cartridge loading, not unlike the Apt Holman) and just plain sounds excellent. "What about the Yammie C-4? I love mine, that's for sure. ![]()
